Cozumel is widely considered one of the safest destinations in Mexico, according to the U.S. State Department.

The State Department places the state of Quintana Roo (which includes the island of Cozumel) at a Level 2: "Exercise Increased Caution advisory."

However, this rating is primarily due to criminal activity on the mainland (Playa del Carmen etc), not on the island of Cozumel. Even so, Level 2 is the same level applied to popular European destinations like France and the UK.

While Cozumel is widely considered one of the safest destinations in Mexico, it is always wise to practice standard safety measures for international travel.

There are no U.S. government restrictions on travel to the island.

Typically, payment is due at registration. However, you can spread payments out by contacting me directly to arrange a payment schedule.

Payment schedule is as follows:

• 50% due at registration

• 40% due on by July 2

• Final 10% due by August 14

Yes, you do need a passport to travel to Mexico from the US by air.  

It needs to be a passport book, not a U.S. passport card to board a plane at the airport. 

You do not need to apply for a visa to travel to Mexico for less than 180 days.

By land: You need a passport book or card to enter Mexico. All travelers to Mexico, must apply for an FMM, entry permit online or from an INM office, including travelers who are only staying within 12 miles (or 20 kilometers) from the border area.

By sea: If you are traveling to Mexico by sea, you must have either a valid passport, a U.S. passport card, a trusted traveler card (such as NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST), or a state-issued REAL ID.  

Flying into Cozumel is the best way to arrive on the island. And transportation to the hotel and back to the Cozumel airport is included in the price of the retreat. 

It is possible to fly to Cancun and then take the bus to Playa Del Carmen. From there you can take the ferry across to the island. 

It's about a 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour trip from Cancun to Cozumel.

Transportation from the ferry to the hotel and back is also included.

NOTE: The cost of transportation from Cancun to Cozumel is not included. 

It is highly advisable when travelling internationally to purchase trip insurance. 

Cozumel is in the Caribbean and so weather events like hurricanes can occur. 

Be sure the policy you select will cover weather events. 

Most travel insurance covers hotel and flight expenses in the event of a hurricane, provided the policy is purchased before the storm is officially named by the National Hurricane Center.

If the event is cancelled due to weather, every effort will be made to reschedule the retreat.
